EGE SOCKS

Sports Socks Manufacturer

Performance sports sock production for athletic and sportswear brands. Cushioning, arch support, breathable blends, durable construction. OEM and private label.

Sports socks are engineered, not just knitted. The construction has to manage impact, moisture and movement, hold its shape through repeated washing, and stay comfortable through a full session of activity. For sportswear brands, training-gear labels and team suppliers, the manufacturer's understanding of cushioning zones, support structures and durable yarns matters more than the surface design. EGE SOCKS produces performance sports socks from its factory in Türkiye on a private label and OEM basis.

This page is for athletic and sportswear brands, team and club suppliers, and retailers building a performance sock range who need construction that holds up in real use.

What makes a sock a "sports" sock

A casual sock and a sports sock can look similar and perform very differently. The difference is in the build: terry (looped) cushioning under the foot and at impact points, arch support through a band of tighter knit, a ribbed or supportive cuff that resists slipping, moisture-managing yarns, and reinforced heel and toe for durability. Each of these is a deliberate construction decision tied to how the sock will be used.

Cushioning and impact zones

Terry loops on the inside of the fabric create cushioning. They can be placed across the whole foot (full terry), only at the heel and toe and ball of the foot (zoned terry), or left out for a thinner sock. Zoned cushioning lets a sock be protective where impact lands and thin where breathability matters. The density and height of the terry loops are part of the spec.

Arch and ankle support

A band of tighter, elasticated knit through the arch holds the sock in place and supports the midfoot during lateral movement. Cuff height — no-show, quarter, crew — and rib structure are chosen for the sport and for how the sock sits with footwear.

Materials and yarn

Sports socks favour yarns that move moisture and recover their shape. Polyester and polyamide handle moisture and dry quickly; cotton can be blended in for softness but pure cotton holds water, so performance ranges often lean synthetic or use a balanced blend. Elastane gives the stretch and recovery that keeps a sock supportive through movement. The exact blend is tuned to the activity and the price point. EGE SOCKS works with cotton, bamboo, polyester, polyamide, elastane and blends.

Construction and needle count

Needle count (156 or 200 needle on the machines used here) affects density and the cleanness of any logo or stripe. Sports socks also rely on the terry construction, the support knit, and a smooth or hand-linked toe closure to avoid a seam that rubs during activity. A flat, low-bulk toe seam is a small detail that strongly affects comfort under load.

Branding

Sports brands usually want their mark on the sock. A knitted or jacquard logo on the cuff or foot is durable through washing; embroidery suits a small sharp mark; packaging carries the brand for retail. Stripes, blocks and brand colours are knitted in rather than printed.

Packaging

Retail performance socks are commonly sold on header cards or in branded polybags with size and feature callouts; multipacks in printed bands or boxes are common for training ranges. Artwork, barcodes and export labelling are produced to your specification.

MOQ, sampling and lead time

MOQs apply per colour and design. Samples are usually ready in about 5–7 days once construction and colours are confirmed; expect to sample the cushioning and fit specifically, since that is what defines a sports sock. Bulk production usually runs around 3–4 weeks, with timing depending on quantity, construction complexity, yarn and packaging.

Quality control

For performance socks, quality control should check the things that fail in use: terry density and placement, elastic recovery after stretch, toe seam comfort, measurement to spec, and colour match to the approved lab dip, alongside yarn inspection and a final packing check. Production references OEKO-TEX and ISO 9001 standards.

Export and B2B considerations

Agree Incoterms early (EXW or FOB are common), confirm export documentation, and account for HS code classification and transit time to port. For seasonal sports ranges, build approval and shipping time into the launch window so stock lands before the season.

Preparing your inquiry

Tell the factory the sport and the use, not just the look. Provide: cushioning preference (full, zoned or none), cuff height, size range and grading, Pantone or TPX colours, materials or target blend, logo files, packaging artwork and quantities per colour. A reference pair you like is genuinely useful here.

Can I have cushioning only in certain areas?
Yes. Zoned terry places cushioning at the heel, toe and ball of the foot while keeping the rest thinner for breathability.
What yarn is best for sweat?
Polyester and polyamide move and release moisture faster than cotton. Many performance blends combine synthetics with a little cotton or bamboo for feel.
Will the sock keep its shape after washing?
Elastane content and a supportive knit structure drive recovery; we confirm this on the sample before bulk.
Can you match team or brand colours exactly?
Yes, via Pantone/TPX references confirmed with lab dips before production.
Do you make no-show and crew heights?
Yes — cuff height is part of the spec, from no-show through quarter to crew.
What stops the toe seam rubbing?
A smooth or hand-linked toe closure keeps the seam low-profile, which matters under activity.
